Graduation. The end of one thing, the start of something new.
Last Saturday, 94 seniors graduated from Rappahannock County High School, many of them preparing to leave their community in pursuit of higher education.
“We move on to a better life and new friends and experiences,” said 2007 Salutatorian Jesse Palmer. “Wherever you go, whatever you do remember that Rappahannock will always be with you, ingraining your attitude, your views, and your actions.”
Senior Class President Clay Vickers said in his speech that he believed that the diversity in the class is what made their group unique. “Individually we are shockingly intelligent, outrageously funny, and incessantly dedicated,” he said, “As a group we are a force to be reckoned with.”
As the ceremonies began, each graduate dropped a golf ball on the gym floor diverting everyone’s attention. Many of the graduates gave Mello either a souvenir golf ball or a rubber ball as they received their diploma.
“I was hoping that it would be silver dollars this year,” Mello joked.
