Early morning DUI
Simon Berry, 18, of Flint Hill was charged with Driving Under the Influence of alcohol after losing control of his 1988 Chevrolet Nova and struck a mailbox. The accident occurred on June 17 at 6:20 a.m. State Trooper Christopher Roop made the arrest.

Seat belt use rates went up by 14 percent according to surveys conducted by the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office, as a result of a successful Click It or Ticket Mobilization. This high visibility, “zero tolerance” enforcement mobilization was held during the last two weeks of May. During this time, Virginia law enforcement agencies participated in this aggressive crack down of traffic law violations and enforced seat belt and child safety seat laws.
Immediately prior to Click It or Ticket, an informal seat belt survey showed that just 68 percent of motorists in Rappahannock County were properly buckled up. By the end of the Click It or Ticket Mobilization, that number increased to 82 percent.
“We are extremely pleased to see this increase in seat belt use,” said Major Chris Williams. “It means that our citizens take their own safety and the safety of their passengers seriously. Programs like Click It or Ticket also show our community how much.ve care about them, and how important it is to reduce motor vehicle related injuries and fatalities.”
