Del. Todd Gilbert, R-15th, said he has been in communication with Verizon executives to find out what the problem is and what the company is doing to remedy the situation.

“Hopefully, they move a little fester when the legislator calls,” he said.

Gilbert added that if Verizon does not move fast enough, he will bring the matter to the SCC.

“Well take it to the next level if we have to,” he said.

State Sen. Mark Obenshain, R-26th, said he has been in contact with the SCC and Verizon about the frequent outages.

“It’s not just an inconvenience,” he said. “It materially affects people’s interests, not to mention the safety issue.”

Obenshain said Verizon officials told him they have been working on the Slate Mills prob- > lems for some time.

“It sounds like they’re working on it, it sounds like they have a strategy,” he said.
