During last Tuesday’s meeting, Rappahannock School Board members spent time in closed session discussing staff replacements.
The board approved resignations for Mary Jane Cappello, Susan Payne, and Charlotte Tummeyer.
Jennifer Blore was recommended for a Grade 2 teaching position, as well as Amy Cowan for Grade 3 and Shannon Lanterman for Grade 8.
Current Executive Director of Human Resources and Instruction, David Covington confirmed yesterday, that offers have been made for most of the other vacancies in the school.
These offers include a RCES Grade 6 math teacher, a Grade 1 teacher and a Special Education teacher and the RCHS cafeteria manager.
Covington resigned from his current position last week and will assume a principal position in Madison County.
“Right now we feel that most of the contracts are in and we Eire filling positions. We’ll be ready for the fall,” he said, as he wrapped things up.
Covington will leave June 30.
Rappahannock County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Chappell confirmed that an offer has been made for Covington’s replacement and he will announce it soon.
Currently the school system has vacant positions for an elementary school part-time Special Education teacher, a high school Special Education teacher and a part-time EMT instructor.
Vacant coaching positions in the school system include a Varsity Football Head Coach, a Varsity Cheerleading Coach, and a Junior Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach.
