For Washington, which has fewer than 200 residents, adding 18 lots and some 20 residents would be a significant expansion.

“We need the support of more people to pay for the system,” he said. “There are some other areas around town that we will consider at the same time.”

One other area Leggett mentioned is along Warren Avenue near the Washington Fire Hall, which receives town water.

Piedmont is also on Washington’s drinking water system. Even if the neighborhood does not become part of town, Leggett said, it could be included in the planned sewer system.
