The U.S. Equestrian Federation selected horse and rider combinations to represent the U.S. three-day event team at the July 1329 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Virginia riders on the elite list include Leesburg’s Stephen Bradley, 44, with Russian Thoroughbred gelding From. Mara Dean, 33, of Round Hill, qualified with Nicki Henley, a 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding. Olympic veteran Karen O’Connor, 48, of The Plains will ride Theodore O'Connor, a pony-Thoroughbred cross.
Other riders on the team include Australian native and new U.S. citizen Phillip Dutton on Connaught, Californian Gina Miles on McKinlaigh, and Pennsylvanian Bonnie Mosser on Merloch.
Before the first horse inspection in Rio, four riders will be named to the team and the other two will represent the U.S. as individuals.
