July 4: Thrift shop sale

There will be a $5 bag sale on Wednesday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p. m. at the Thrift shop in Washington. For more information call Jean Alther at 540-675-3844. The shop is open every Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a,m to 4 p.m.

Farm Show

The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock (CMR) Farm Show is nearly here! Mark your calendars for July 5 - July 9 and plan a day at the CMR Farm Show, held at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on Rt. 29 in Culpeper. Now is the time to perfect your pound cake recipe, paint a picture, take a photograph, or sew a dress that can be entered in the Homemakers Building. Becky Beach, Chairman of the Homemakers building, will accept registrations past the June 16 date listed on the website and will be at the Culpeper Agriculture Enterprises to take registrations on Sunday, July 1 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. and July 5 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and see 4-H members show their animals at the 4-H Livestock Show and sale, see the Kiss a Cow contest, cheer for your favorite Little Mr and Ms. CMR, or see and participate in many other events. July 7-8:13th Anniversary Celebration at Gray Ghost Vineyards

Saturday and Sunday, July 7 & 8,11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Enjoy wine tastings, winery tours, vineyard tours and live music by the Seth Kibel Jazz Trio at Rappahannock County’s oldest operating winery. As part of the event, Gray Ghost will provide barbecue lunches at $10 with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the Culpeper Food Closet. Please call to make lunch reservations. The event will include a Civil War campsite and the firing of an operational Civil War cannon! The award-winning 2006 Cabernet Franc will be released! Summer Workshops

Sign-up now for the 6th year of Headwaters' Summer Workshops. The workshops are open to all county children, age requirement vary depending on the workshop chosen. The cost is $40 per child per week. Workshops are sponsored in part by a generous grant from Target Stores. For an application and workshop description, please call Headwaters at 675-1819. Application deadline is June 29.

July 18: The Free Clinic schedule

The Rappahannock Free Clinic will be open on July 18 at the County Health Department on Mato Street in Washington. There will be no clinic on July 4. For more information call the Fauquier Free Clinic at 540-347-0394.
