Recovery is for Real Workshop

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery are facts. Individuals with psychiatric or substance abuse symptoms can recover. RappahannockRapidan Community Services Board is sponsoring a seminar to help you learn more about principles of recovery. This workshop is for Individuals with mental health or substance abuse symptoms, Professionals who work with individuals with mental health or substance abuse symptoms, Family or friends of individuals with mental health or substance abuse symptoms. This one day workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 11, and repeated on Wednesday, July 18, at the Germanna Community College Center for Advanced Technology, in Culpeper, Virginia. Sign in begins each day at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will last from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

There is no cost for the workshop, however, space is limited, so you must pre-register by June 29. Contact Paula Benenson at or 825-3100, ext. 3146. A box lunch will be provided.

Teach Life Stories Workshops

Ki Theatre is offering the annual three day Train the Trainer Life Stories Workshop. The dates are June 29 through July 1 in Washington, Virginia. Train the Trainer is designed for participants who want to facilitate life stories workshops, develop their own story-writing and teaching skills, help students and clients of all ages recognize and connect with their own stories. 21 Continuing Education Units are available for those who register. The workshop is taught by Julie Ftortman, artistic director of Ki Theatre. Julie is a New York Obie award winning theatre artist and writer who has developed and taught the Life Stories Workshop process at Retreat Centers, for not for profit organizations, the United States Senate Staff and a breadth of educational institutions throughout North America. In the Piedmont area, 500 people have participated in Ki Theatre’s life stories workshops. Throughout the month of July, Gray Ghost is hosting a food drive to benefit the Culpeper Food Closet.
