A difficult beginning
1997 was a stormy year for both Robert and Joanie. Within the span of three months, Robert lost his mother, and then his only brother and nephew were killed in a head-on collision while on a summer vacation. Joanie’s father, during this same time, fell suddenly into a coma after returning home from a trip to Portugal, having contracted a rare virus, and died within two weeks of Robert’s mother.
In spite of these tragedies, both Robert and Joanie pushed forward to start their business encouraging each other not to give up.
