Jenkins, who’s older brother Jason is a pitcher at Christopher Newport University, says that playing year round has really helped him improve his game.
“I play legion ball in the summer and then in September I start playing fall ball,” Jenkins said. “It’s important to play as much as possible because that’s the only way your going to get better. I particularly like legion ball, because college freshmen can play, and you can gauge yourself against better competition.”
Well, if awards are any indication, all of Jenkins’ hard work and year-round dedication to the game of baseball has paid off.
At the end of May, he was named to the All-Bull Run District first team. Two weeks later he was named a firstteam All-Region B performer. And on Tuesday, he became the first Panthers player in the last three years to be named to an all-state team when he was announced as a VHSL Group A honorable mention selection.
