Why should the federal government?" he asked. “We need better planning for new equipment and we need to hold contractors accountable.”
“Accountable” is a word that Dorrier used repeatedly in his talk with county Democrats—not just in relation to defense contractors and Pentagon generals but for congressmen as well.
Once in Washington, senators, and representatives too often “let their staffs do all the work and allow the bureaucrats to take over,” he said.
“Congressmen must hold all the people working for them accountable... Traditionally, bureaucrats protect their own departments. They’re not going to volunteer information on where waste might be in their department.”
