Benefit Bake Sale The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad will hold a bake sale on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, at the Sperryville Emporium. Proceeds from the sale of hotdogs, hamburgers, baked goods and cold drinks will be applied toward purchase of communication equipment.
Charily Golf Planned Culpeper Country Cub will open its fairway's to men and women participants in the First Annual Atkins Ford County Fire and Rescue Association Charity Tournament on Saturday, July 10. Organizers are planning a “fun day” with celebrities from the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Colts, New York Jets and University of Virginia basketball. Paul Burmann, “the clown prince of golf,” who bills himself as the Meadowlark Lemon of the links, will be on hand to demonstrate trick shots. Tournament play will feature a five person “superball” with four players and a celebrity playing as a team (no handicap required). The $50 entry fee covers a round of golf and cart fees with refreshments on the course and cocktails, dinner and dance for two at the Fire Hall on West Davis Street in Culpeper following the tournament.
