Mrs. Sykes was still listed in critical condition at U.Va. Hospital on Monday afternoon. Her son, James B. Sykes, Jr., was listed as being in good condition. Melissa Dawn Sykes, sister of the child who was killed, was also injured in the wreck but was released Monday from Culpeper memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Sykes and the two girls were thrown from the car in which they were riding, according to state police reports. James Sykes, Jr., was pinned in his seat by the accident.
