—Rappahannock Newi Photo/Lorrie Young THE WASHINGTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT has purchased a new ambulance with help from the ladies auxiliary. The total cost of the ambulance was $28,500 and the ladies auxiliary donated $2,500. The rest of the cost was covered by an EMS grant which provided for $20,000 and then a loan was taken out for $6,000. In the last year, the Ladies Auxiliary has donated $11,000 to the WVFD from their earnings at the Washington Thrift Shop.
