Courtly and gallant with a twinkle in his eye at 86, Jack Miller is every inch the ladies’ man, tipping his hat and passing out compliments whenever a female passes by, be she seven or seventy.

It’s hard to imagine a shy Jack Miller but he insists that one existed once upon a time. “I was real bashful until I was better than 16 years old. I’d run from the girls, believe it or not,” he admitted with a chuckle.

Eighty-six years young, the white haired gentleman is a fixture in the town of Washington, a regular visitor at the county’s offices and businesses, always nattily attired in a coat, a tie and a fedora hat. His trademark is a cigar—or its stub—sometimes lit but more often not and always in a holder.
