life in Rappahannock County and for most of these years, I have had young people in its school system.

We have schools we can be proud of; schools that have seen many good teachers come and go! Each time we acquire a teacher (or principal for that matt^t^ with exceptional ability together with genuine concern for the student, they are either forced to leave or are downright tired!

Usually I avoid intervening in such matters, contenting myself to complain privately. However, the most recent victim of the “Rappahannock Hatchet Squad” is one who I know personally; someone 1 respect; and a teacher 1 have had the privledge of working with on the “Committee for Gifted Children”, an implementation of great worth for which she is directly responsible.

1 am speaking of Laurie Marshall, a Rappahannock school teacher for two years well-regarded by students and parents alike. Ms. Marshall has been a member of this community for seven years, during which time she has worked within our programs for the elederly, been active in school and extra-curricular activities on both elementary and high school levels, instigated programs of high innovative importance, including career day, and has the most
