Those in town for the Washington 4th of July celebration may want to spend some time in Washington s neighboring town. Sperryville is located six miles west of Washington on Route 522 and shops and fruit stands continue on for the seven miles up 211 toward Skyline Drive.
Early visitors can stop by the Rappahannock Farmers Co-op where Ranny Aylor and Betsy Murray have for sale items ranging from feed and fertilizer to Wrangler Clothing. The Co-Op will be closed on the 4th. but open until noon on Saturday, and worth a visit during a future trip to the county. The CoOp is located between Washington and Sperryville on Route 211. Later in the season Sam Snead will have sweet corn and fruit available at his market beside the coop and in the fall, will operate his pick-your-own apple business on weekends. Further down the road, a right turn will bring you into Old Hollow and if you presevere on this curvy road
