For years we have enjoyed the 4th of July celebration sponsored by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and the hospitality of the Carrigans at their yearly fireworks display at Avon Hall. This year we have devoted the July 4th edition of the Rappahannock News to local history, old tales and pictures to help add to the patriotic celebration.
So many of our readers have stopped by or called to tell us of their interest in Rappahannock's past that we plan to increase our coverage next year to honor the county’s loOth anniversary. We will be looking for old pictures, church histories and just plain old tall tales for publication each month of the coming year.
