At last week’s Elementary School Awards Assembly, Mrs. Maggie Piper presented the United States Achievement Academy Award to seven outstanding young scholars.
To qualify for this award, students havfe to earn an academic average of 3.0, plus they have to demonstrate dependibility, citizenship, leadership, knowledge and participation, enthusiasm, motivation for selfimprovement, dedication, attitude and cooperative spirit and responsibility. Recipients of the award for 1982 were Tammy Butler, Denice Eidson, Edwin Eastham, Lee Baines, Richie Adams, Tim Ahern and Jimmy Darner.
In the seventh grade, awards were presented in specific academic areas as well as for overall scholarship. The overall scholarship awards went to Regina Schumaker, Jonathan Watson, Rodney Grimsley, James Adams, Kristi Pendleton and Tammy Butler. The science awards went to Louie Moore, Jonathan Watson, James Adams, Lee Baines and Rodney Grimsley. The math awards were presented to Tammy Butler, Edwin Eastham, Rodney Grimsley and Jonathan Watson. The recipients of the history awards were Richie Adams, Kristi Pendleton, Tammy Butler, Jonathan Watson and Rodney Grimsley.
Tammy Butler and Lee Baines were named the most outstanding male and female athletes in the 7th grade in recognition of their athletic abilities and sportsmanship.
