In response to advice from Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke, the supervisors voted to petition the Circuit Court for a writ to hold a special election Nov. 4 for the Hampton District seat.
Charged with appointing an interim replacement within 30 days, the supervisors agreed to fill the vacancy at a special meeting April 23.
At the close of Monday’s session, the board passed a resolution in appreciation of Mr. Baldwin’s 13 years as a “loyal and efficient public servant.” His fellow supervisors expressed gratitude for his services and a deep feeling of loss at his passing.
