This is a letter to express a sincere thanks to some very dedicated people of Rappahannock County.
On April 4, an accident occurred involving a 16-year-old boy at the top of Horse Shoe Hollow near Flint Hill. While surveying the mountain, this individual took a severe fall causing possible head and neck injuries. j,,,
The emergency call was received by the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department. Volunteer members from Sperryville, Washington and Flint Hill fire and rescue departments responded, with Rappahannock County deputies directing them where to go.
It took one hour to climb the mountain, using a privately owned four-wheel drive vehicle. After reaching the top, rescue workers had to descend 100 yards to reach the injured person. Vital life saving treatment was performed immediately, after which the task of bringing the individual down the mountain was started, using the four-wheel drive vehicle.
Realizing this was too rough for the injuries involved, a seven-man team began to carry the victim down
