Clerk Diane Bruce added that sheetrock will be an additional $1,985 while upgrading the electrical work and the lighting will take $2,140 more.
“I’m inclined to agree with Peter on this. It probably should be put in the form of a contract,” said Supervisor Charles Estes.
The board instructed Mr. Luke to draw up a contract, holding the ad hoc committee responsible for “everything over the contract price,” including additional architectural fees.
Also regarding the courthouse renovation, the supervisors reluctantly accepted the low bid of $3,400 from John Robinson for painting and patching the plaster in the upstairs courtroom.
Supervisor Richard Latham initially moved that the bids be rejected as excessively high.
“It seems like a terrible price to paint that courtroom,” agreed Supervisor Estes.
