Peter Luke noted that the state normally blacktops when it takes a road into the highway system but he and Mr. Baumgardner both pointed out that the highway department does not normally accept internal subdivision roads.
“I can’t think of a single road in Rappahannock County — except in Peyton Farms subdivision — that’s been taken into the state’s system,” said Mr. Baumgardner.
“And the Peyton Farm Road cost $66,000 to pave when it was done in 1971,” interjected Supervisor Estes, adding that the blacktopping had been paid for by the developer.
In referring Mr. Johansson’s request to the Planning Commission for written recommendation, the board also set a public hearing on the plat vacation application for its May 5 meeting.
