Help build the playground

Playground?
Thanks to this newspaper, I have found an outlet to express my heartfelt thanks to the students and parents of Rappahannock Elementary School. They have given the Buy A Board drive good support. The teachers, volunteers and Mrs. Piper, the principal, should not be forgotten either!
But we’re not through yet. There are two weeks left until the “drive” is over. I would like to ask the businesses hot yet involved to be receptive and generous to the volunteers that will be contacting you. With a combined and organized effort you could possibly match what the Buy A Board raises. When you respond to our needs generously, we plan on permanently displaying our gratitude to you in a very special and visible way, which the volunteers will explain to you.
Time, money and planning are key factors for anything to be successful. If parents, neighbors, friends and interested people will make May 3 and 4 Red Letter Days on their calendars, that would no doubt make the first playground workday, out of many, a true success.
We need people and their tools. We need food donated for the work force. We need babysitters for toddler care. And kids, we have jobs for you, too.
Is my list too long? I don’t think so. The more you give yourself the more productive we can be.
Enthusiasm is something I’ve never run short of — and it can be extremely contagious. I hope I’m spreading lots of germs to those of you who read this. By the way, Mr. Clater, thank you for donating your “coffee money” from the Corner Store to the Playground Fund! Now there’s some enthusiasm!
