The Rappahannock Fanners’ Association is sponsoring a Beef Education Seminar on Oct. 29 at Windsor Lodge Farm, a commercial cow-calf operation owned and operating by Alfred and Clara Kummli in Huntly.
The purpose of the seminar is to address some the major concerns of local beef producers and to present information concerning seed stock selection from a nationally recognized breeder.
Four speakers will make presentations.
Newbill Miller will speak on his philosophy of developing a breeding herd to fit the needs of the commercial industry. The Miller family, of Washington were recently named 1994 Master Breeder of the Year at the 47th Showing of the All American Angus Breeder’s Futurity in Louisville, Ky. Testing
Dr. Patrick Comyn of Virginia Herd Health Management Service in Madison County will be conducting a Bull Breeding Soundness Testing Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Glenwood feedlot.
The program is free, but if you bring bulls for testing the charge will be $20 per bull.
