Mr. Cntzer said that the extensions being done are to replace galvanized steel pipe. He said the pipe has been the problem in 95 percent of the failures of the water system in the past. He said, “If we don’t replace it, we will be repairing it.”
Ed Barton asked when he can expect to have clearer water. Mr. Critzer informed him that it would be at least two months until the filtration system is working because of inspections that must be made of the system before it is put into operation. i
Mr. Gooch moved that the council send a resolution of appreciation to Newbill Miller and to Janice Moffett, and that those both be published in the Rappahannock News. He said, “I don’t think anyone can question Mr. Miller’s dedication to the ordinances, the work of the council, and a very conservative economic philosophy. He served this town, he served this county, and I was just real sad to see him turn and walk out of this room without a single comment being made to say thank you very much for your service to Rappahannock County and the Town of Washington.” (
Mayor Willis said that he was disappointed that Mr. Miller left so quickly too, and that he had wanted to say some words.
Mr. Gooch said that he didn’t think anyone had grown more on the council than Janice Moffett in the last four years;, and that he was really sorry to get her letter of resignation.
