. Dr. Stephen White will speak on some local animals health concerns. First, he will address the care of newborn calves. Second, he will provide information on a new strand of BVD that is causing great problems in surrouncing areas. Dr. White has just opened a practice in Rappahannock County focusing on large animal health care. Before coming to the area, he had practiced in Florida and in Clifton.
Jack Dunford will speak on different feed formulations for the producers who is backgrounding cattle. With the recent decline in cattle prices, more options in this area are needed. Mr. Dunford is with the Extension Service and assists farmers in 16 counties. Lately, he has been in Rappahannock County once a week when the county did not have an agricultural agent. ,
Randall Updike will close the seminar with a report on market conditions for the area. He will discuss factors that have created the present condition and will affect the near future. Mr. Updike is a state marketing specialist and along with his family operates a pure bred angus and sheep operation in Washington.
