Democrats
Criticized
To th Editor ,
If the Democrats ever start to get their facts straight, I might be able to get some housework done around here, but they do keep me busy trying to educate them.
Mr. Ross (Oct. 12), the three hundred Republicans you referred to did not promise to “give us” anything. What they promised was to bring to the floor of the House their i ideas of how to solve the country’s problems. Under Democratic rule, this has not been allowed to happen: Republican bills get locked up in committee, locked up, pressed down, squeezed in, strangled, and killed, while the Clintons, thenhired help, and the toadies in the press complain on the air that “the Republicans don’t offer any ideas of their own, they just keep saying no.”
They lie, Mr. Ross. The Republicans do have ideas, and after this November, they will be heard. Any voter who does not like these ideas will be free to vote against them. That’s the way the system works, or used to, before the illiberal liberals decided to run the Congress as if it were the Democratic National Party Convention: Do it our way, or you do not do it at all. If everything they do is so right, Mr. Ross, and everything we do is so wrong, why are they so afraid of open discussion to be followed by a vote? Maybe they need to do a little housecleaning of their own. (
