In this issue, we join with Americans across the

nation in saluting 4-H during its annual observance

of National 4-H Week.

In the more than 60 plus years since 4-H was organized as an adjunct of the Extension Service, millions of American youngsters have participated in the wide variety of programs offered under its aegis.

It has fostered leadership and taught responsibility and nurtured self-confidence in several generations . of American youth. Though it is often thought of as a rural program there are 4-H clubs active in many U.S. cities as well.

Rappahannock 4-H programs are growing stronger each year. Last year over 250 youngsters participated in various clubs. Rappahannock now has twenty-two 4-H clubs that meet monthly.

The Rappahannock 4-H programs are administered under the superb guidance of Mrs. Hazel ZinnDay and we are indeed fortunate to have her taking
