Winter in our area may not fully come until January. Even then, many jobs in the garden can be made pleasant by just adding extra-thick gloves and a hat.
Plants people have long known the benefits of planting in fall. Most trees and shrubs establish and do better when planted during their dormant season. Perennials are about to lose most of their leaves, so you can be as sloppy as you want in dividing them and it won’t show come spring.
