We got several rows ready to go, cutting the pieces to fit with our circular saw. Then, using a rented nailer and compressor to power it, we nailed the first row in place — and we were off!
It took a little time to get used to the feel of the nailer and the rubber mallet needed to tap the special nails into place, but it sure made the job a lot easier than doing it by hand. Hickory is one of the hardest woods, so we had to strike the nails a little harder than if we were using maple, oak or pine.
