Fall is the season that the nut bearing trees release their fruit. Some of the nuts are edible, and some are very bitter. They all provide food for squirrels and animals for the winter.
It is very interesting to watch how busy the squirrels are at this time of year. You see them everywhere gathering the nuts as fast as they fall, to store them for food when there is none available. They can distinguish the bad fropa the good, leaving the bad nuts on the ground.
