Charles Jr. had married the former Janet Elizabeth Johnston in 1963 and they had one daughter, Karen.
Charles Sr. remained alone at the farm until 1975 when he sold it to his brother Frank who used it as a weekend home. When Frank Bowling passed away in 1984, the house and farm were left to Karen, who at that time was a senior at Warren County High School in Front Royal where she lived with her mother and stepfather, Charles “Bunny” and Janet Welch.
