Tb get an estimate of how much wood is needed, multiply the length by the width of the room then divide that number by 144. This will give you how many square feet you’ll need. Add 10 percent to that number and order away!
We decided to pay a little extra to have one of Bachetti’s colleagues end-finish (cut to square) our wood. Within a month, we’d ordered the wood and the adventure began.
I think the hardest part of the entire project was removing the old carpeting and preparing the sub-flooring for the new floor. Because the carpeting was only a few years old, it was still securely tacked in place, and removing the tack strips and tacks themselves was quite a job.
The surface needs to be as level as possible, to allow the new flooring to lay smoothly.
