Round Table

to meet Oct. 9

The Civil War memoirs of Confederate Captain French Harding of the 31st Virginia Infantry will be the topic of discussion at the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on historic Main Street in Sperryville.

Victor Thacker, editor of “French Harding, Civil War Memoirs,” will present a talk and slide show on the war exploits of his ancestor, who served as an officer in both the 31st Virginia Infantry and later the 20th Virginia Cavalry. Harding fought in major battles in the Shenandoah Valley, at Cedar Mountain in Culpeper County, and at Gettysburg, among others.
