Here’s an idea to fire our

imaginations and to “trim” the high tech assault on our county: Why not ask Sprint to design each of the seven cell phone towers it wants to build in our county to look like a tree. I would further suggest something on the order of a white pine.

According to Donald Culross Peattie’s 1948 masterly A Natural History of Trees, the white pine once ruled as the monarch of the Eastern woods. It was known to achieve heights of 240 feet and was an easy rival to the redwood of the West Coast.
