Question: Under House Joint Resolution (HJR)-247 the state legislature is reviewing the tax structure of the current formula in returning tax revenue to the locales. Do you see any change in the formula that will allow Rappahannock County any additional tax revenue from the state?
Louderback: “I am on that committee, we are looking at all the state taxes with the VML and VECO. We are looking at the state fully funding Standards of Quality in the state education programs. This would allow Rappahannock an increase in state taxes in funding the county schools.”
Pollack: “There will be a lot of inequities. I will be looking at aggressive ways for Rappahannock, Shenandoah and Page counties to receive more of a fair share in the returning of revenue to the locales.”
Question: In education, do you support the current state educational Standards of Learning (SOLs), or do you see any change in. their application?
Louderback: I am in favor of the SOLs and from the reports that I have seen the students in Virginia are showing an improvement. I think
