Hello. I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself to you. 1 represent the 15th District in the House of Delegates, in Richmond. In 2002, Rappahannock County and the Swift Run area of Rockingham County will be in the 15th District.
I was bom in Luray, where my family-Nadia, sons Lance and Chase-and 1 reside. 1 am a product of Virginia public education, first in the schools of Luray and finally at Virginia Tech, where 1 earned my degree in business administration. 1 am pleased that my oldest son, Lance, has followed my footsteps to Blacksburg. Chase attends Springfield Elementary.
The first eighteen years of my professional life were spent in Washington, as an investigator and administrator for the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress. It was during my work with the GAO that 1 saw first handgovemment waste and inefficiency and began to hone my conservative principles. One of my goals as a Delegate is to help make our Commonwealth government as efficient as possible. For this reason, I founded the Cost-Cutting-Caucus, a group of common sense conservatives, devoted to a tight-tax-dollar Virginia government.
I serve on the House Finance Committee-the tax writing committee-of the House; there 1 am working to cut out the many tax exemptions, so that the sales and income tax rates can be lower for all of us. I am devoted to 2nd Amendment gun rights. Speaker Wilkins placed me on the Militia & Police Committee-through which any restrictive gun legislation must pass-to guard those rights. I am a member of the State Water Commission; there, 1 chair a subcommittee working to assure that we continue to have access to clean well water throughout our area. 1 am also a member of the Conservation and Natural Resources and Agriculture Committees; both these committees are critical to the continuation of Agriculture in Virginia-as a cultural heritage and a modem economic force.
One of the most pleasant and important tasks I perform as a delegate is to help folks with problems within the Commonwealth bureaucracy.
