“They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. ”

Hosea 8:7

I believe that America’s response to the attacks of Sept. 11 will be our generation’s test. It will test our resolve, our commitment to freedom and the American purpose, and it will test our natural and human resources.

Perhaps we will always live with these threats, but we must ever be vigilant and thorough in our attempts to eradicate the perpetrators and, most importantly, the climate that breeds them.

The heroes of America right now are the men and women of Manhattan and the Pentagon, who have worked tirelessly and in constant danger to save human lives. That is the stuff we are made of, the stuff of the common American, the stuff of greatness. It is at times like these, “the times that try men’s souls”, that we realize our common bonds and our common heritage. It is spoken perfectly in the first three words of our Constitution, “We the People.”

We have the glorious right
