Culpeper Regional Hospital and Fauquier Hospital, two regional hospitals serving Rappahannock County residents, each are undergoing major multi-million dollar expansions of their facilities to handle a growing population and increasing numbers of persons retiring in this region.
Expansion plans for Culpeper Regional Hospital include construction of three new centers: a cancer center, a cardiology center and a rehabilitation center, complete with a special indoor pool for aquatic therapy.
Fauquier Hospital’s plans include deluxe private patient rooms in a five story tower, a conference center, and major expansions of most of their medical care departments.
The total number of people who went to a hospital from Rappahannock County last year as inpatients was 1,139, according to statistics provided by area hospitals, lb which of the hospitals in our region did they go?
Some 108 Rappahannock residents went to Culpeper Hospital as inpatients; 530 went to Fauquier Hospital; 106 went to Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal. The remainder went mostly to hospitals such as the University of Virginia and Fairfax; while others sought care at hospitals which included Winchester, and ones in Washington, DC.
As for outpatient visits, 5,992 Rappahannock residents went to Fauquier Hospital of the 64,596 Fauquier handled last year. In comparison,there were 1,067 persons from Rappahannock who were treated at Culpeper Hospital as outpatients, of the total 44,800 outpatients Culpeper had.
