Antonia Walker, one of the regions outstanding artists, will be exhibiting her recent paintings of the French and Virginia countryside in Long View Gallery in Sperryville. The show will run from Oct. 10 through Oct. 29 and there will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.
Ms. Walker is renowned for her lyrical, quiet rural scenes painted in an impressionist style. She draws her inspiration from soft natural colors of a landscape lit by the warm glow of an evening sun. Many of the paintings are from the Blue Ridge and Piedmont area of Virginia, including Clarke, Loudoun and Rappahannock counties. Other paintings are from her travels in France.
Ms. Walker has exhibited in prestigious regional venues including in the Arts Club of Washington, DC, the National Symphony Showcase House in Washington, DC, the Rose Gallery in Leesburg, and the Washington Project for the Arts in Washington, DC. She is also one of the perennial favorite artists in the Art at the Mill show in Millwood.
Her paintings have been commissioned by Creative Options in Washington, DC, The Waterford Foundation, the President’s Commission on Environmental Quality, NASA and numerous private individuals.
Ms. Walker received a BFA from the University of Georgia and has studied with Spanish sculptor, Benjamin Saul and American painter William Woodward.
