Varsity Cheerleading Coach Bonnie Pullin, wife of the football coach, wasn’t kidding when she told her RCHS cheerleaders we were going to do some different things this year to have fun.
On Saturday morning, Sept. 28, Coach Pullin introduced two Washington Redskin cheerleaders to her squad at the RCHS gymnasium. Tiffany and Kelley, the girls don’t release their last names, showed up at 10 a.m. that Saturday and met Mr. Roger Mello, the high school principal, members of the cheerleading squads, many of the players from the football team,, and other interested children from the school.
They spent the next two hours interacting with the children in a variety of activities. They addressed the cheerleading squad on the “what’s it like” aspect of their job and candidly answered questions on anything the girls wanted to know.
They watched as the Panther cheerleaders demonstrated some of their cheer routines and offered comments and suggestions on how the girls and the squad might improve their performance. They also posed for pictures with the girls and even some of the guys from the football team. They signed and passed out Redskin pictures and were completely at ease with the children. They left around noon that day, but not before demonstrating what fine young professionals they were and also, what terrific ambassadors they are for the Washington Redskins organization.
Coach Pullin, as well as the RCHS cheerleaders, were extremely impressed with these two young women.
She said, “They were terrific. They showed our girls how to do some things and gave them some solid tips. They were patient and understanding of where our skill level is and critiqued our routine, offering positive suggestions on how to improve. We picked up some pointers from them and the children were just really excited about the whole thing. Kelley
