The comments reflected two poles of thought: there were those who - poke of the Lams as fine people who should be granted the rezoning so that they could have their son nearby to care for them; and those who expressed concern about the precedent-setting nature of the application and its danger to the County's 25acre zoning.
County and Zoning Administrator John McCarthy had recommended denial of the application because "There does not appear to be a demonstrable public purpose to this rezoning. . . .While the applicant's proffers would limit the impact of the rezoning, it nevertheless creates serious issues for the viability of the Comprehensive Plan's prescripts for village areas and their development."
