Once again, I was delighted
to see the additional responses to my Sept. 12 letter to the editor. Tbday my intention was to write a letter to the editor to compliment the good folks at The Inn at Little Washington for the stupendous job of restoring Mrs. Coxe’s Tavern; however that letter can wait for another day.
And it is only fair to say that I have absolutely no animosity or ill will to those who leveled the barrage of names and epitaphs toward me. And in some cases I agree with the stated arguments entirely. It is true; Mr. Cantor is a scarce commodity in this town and in Rappahannock County.
Since my first letter was published in the Rappahannock News, I have repeatedly tried to contact his office by telephone, letter, and e-mail. I even offered to send him copies of the Rappahannock News and a campaign contribution. Tb my dismay, I have not ever received a response. Heck, I had to make my own Eric Cantor for Congress bumper sticker with paper and magic markers! Yet, if I may come to my defense, and even offer some self criticism, I believe it is in order.
My first letter included a couple of real spelling whoppers that have yet to be corrected, even by writers responding to my letter. Carpetbagger is one word, not two; car-pet-bag-ger/noun. It appears we are all guilty of
