Billy Cameron, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Cameron, was declared a winner in the 1959-60 4-H sow project sponsored by Sears Roebuck Foundation and was pictured with his winners, a sow with at least eight or more babies and there’s also a cat watching nearby.
Mrs. Harry Gallihugh of Peola Mills recently attended a meeting of Stanley Home Products Inc. held at the General Wayne Hotel in Waynesboro at which time she was awarded a diamond pin in recognition of seven years with the company. Mrs. Gallihugh has also in the past received four gold cups.
Miss Dorothy Wood, a former resident of Rappahannock County, now living in Las Cruces, N.M. has been awarded the New Mexico Delta Kappa Gamma special scholarship which she will use for doctoral study in the field of Elementary Education at the University of Denver in Colorado. Miss Wood, a graduate of Washington High School, was a member of the Woman’s Army Corps for nine years.

There is a crisis in the Washington Water System operation. All town residents are requested to conserve water and curtail any and all excess usage. Consumption has been up and the reservoir is becoming increasingly low. The shortage is greater now than it was in the dry summer period, according to Mayor Newbill Miller.
The Rappahannock School Board voted late last night to accept the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. William Bloomer and hired Graham Spencer as principal of the elementary school and Charlotte Lambeth as assistant principal.
Deputy R.D. Hawkins of the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Department has attended and completed an in-service certified state approved police school at Blue Ridge Community College in Staunton.
