Senior Patrol Leader Andrew Kohler and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Josh Makela were joined by their parents to be recognized for their accomplishments in earning Star Scout rank. In addition to earning the merit badges, and performing the public service required for the rank, Andrew and Josh have taken the pledge to give back to Scouting by giving leadership, guidance and inspiration to younger Scouts. Their new positions in the Troop indicate that they have already taken a large step on the path towards this goal.
The final recognition went to the Troop as a whole for earning the Rock Enon Elite Award at Summer Camp this year. In addition to the camp service project detailed in an earlier article in the Rappahannock News, Troop 36 attained a 98 percent score on campsite inspections, conducted a Troop campfire ceremony, cooked a campsite pancake breakfast, scored a minimum 80 percent on uniform inspections, and participated in two campwide games, among other requirements for this award.
