Sculpture workshop set
A sculpture workshop, figure in clay, taught by Charles E. Flickinger will be held Nov. 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oldway Art Center. The $250 fee includes model fee and materials. For additional information call 987-9500.
Shooting match underway
Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company is currently sponsoring a shooting match the first Friday night of each month beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a $50 fee for five rounds and there are two shots in each round. Cash jackpots include 10-14 people, $50; 15 to 19 people, $75; 20 to 24 people, $100 and 25-29 people, $125. Rules are: 12 gauge shotguns; no scopes, no sleeves, 36 inch barrels maximum length.
Conservation festival set
The Smithsonian National Zoo Conservation and Research Center’s sixth annual Autumn Conservation Festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is located on Route 522, two miles south of Front Royal. Advance ticket sales are $30 per car for up to six people. For more information call 635-6596.
NAACP to meet

Open house at Wakefield
Wakefield School in The Plains will host an Open House for prospective students and their parents at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. Faculty members, students, alumni, parents, Headmaster Peter Quinn, and Director of Admissions Vicky Jann-Lewis will participate in an open forum, during which time they will provide an overview of the school and answer questions from guests.

Hunter safety courses set
Hunter safety courses will be held in Culpeper and Fauquier this year and Rappahannock residents are encouraged to participate. In Culpeper, classes will be held Nov. 5 and 6 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and all day on Nov. 9 beginning at 8 a.m. For additional information call John Dodson at 543-2070.
In Fauquier classes will be held at the Warrenton Police Training Center on Carriage House Lane on Oct. 12, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Oct. 13, noon to 4 p.m. and Nov. 9, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 10, noon to 4 p.m. The class is open to the first 65 people and again contact Mr. Dodson.
