By Rosanna Reed Special to the Rappahannock News
The long run is just a month away! The Richmond Marathon is on Nov. 9.
This is the .day I have been training for.
I have been on a professional tiaining schedule provided by my running coach, Karen Vesey.
Ms. Vesey volunteers her time to the Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion Program Fredericksburg Team.
She helps new trainees prepare for running a marathon and provides each person with a training schedule that meets their individual needs and expectations.
Thanks to Ms. Vesey and my own hard work, I feel confident that I will be able to finish the marathon without injuring myself.
This program has opened new doors for me.
I have participated in and received finishers medals in the WAWA 10 Miler at Hartwood and the Fredericksburg Blue and Gray Half Marathon.
My cross-training included completing the Rappahannock RoughRide. On Oct. 20, I will be running in the Army 10-Miler in Northern Virginia.
I never knew exercise could be so much fun and exciting! I meet many interesting people.
Between fund raising to meet my goal of $4,000, training, work and family, I have been busy! With only a month left, I am half-way to my goal.
The money I raise for the Joints in Motion Program helps the Arthritis Foundation improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to the Arthritis Foundation and mail to: Joints in Motion, R.
