Some 33 percent of the 1,067 were from Sperryville. And there were 961 Rappahannock residents who were outpatients at Warren Memorial Hospital.

Culpeper Hospital has launched a $7.5 million campaign, which already has received $4.1 million towards its goal, and the Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation is asking communities in the area it serves to help. In addition to Rappahannock County, the hospital serves Orange, Madison, and Culpeper counties.

This week officials from the Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation were scheduled to appear before the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors to give a presentation on the hospital’s expansion plans and explain their needs.

“We’re appealing to the community to help build hospital facilities that will meet the health care needs of our families today as well as our children’s children,” said Dr. Linda Daniel, herself a radiologist and co-chair of the Culpeper capital campaign.

“We’ve consistently demonstrated the quality of care offered in Culpeper. In June, the hospital scored in the top five percent of hospitals nationwide in its accreditation survey, as it has during all of the last decade,” Dr. Daniel said.

Meanwhile, Fauquier Hospital’s $50 million expansion project, which is being paid for with bonds, includes the following features: a five story tower, all with private patient rooms and overnight sleeping accommodations for patients’ guests; an expanded ICU unit with 10 private patient rooms; a 24 hour food court, new chapel, new conference center and medical library for the community, according to Amy Petty, of the hospital’s public relations office.
