Richard and Ann Markham of Sperryville celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 6.
A reception was held in their honor Sunday at the Virginia Oaks Golf Club in Gainesville hosted by their daughters, Leslie Zuke and her husband, Doug of Aldie and Cathy Rodgers and her husband, Brian of Reston.
In addition to the daughters, the Markhams also have a son, Don Markham of Ft. Myers, Fla., who was here for the celebration. The couple was also parents to another son, the late Richard Markham.
They have five grandchildren, 13-year old Ashleigh Zuke, who made all the floral table arrangements for the occasion; Sara Markham, a student at James Madison University majoring in preelementary education and three grandsons, Kyle, Bret and Sean Rodgers.
The couple exchanged vows on Oct. 6, 1952 in the Maxwell Air Force Base Chapel in Montgomery, Ala.
The Markhams moved to Rappahannock 17 years ago and reside on a farm near Sperryville.
